Exhibition 10th-24th March 2012
ARTIST: KATH MONTAGU
TITLE: ‘Liking paint’
The Bowman Gallery, Richmond presents a collection of contemporary landscape paintings in oil by artist KATH MONTAGU.
KATH says, “I enjoy drawing and painting and think this sufficient reason for doing it. Other reasons can be useful, but I do not want to understand the complexities of the human mind - and have no need to worry on that score. Certainly I groan, tear out my hair, break pencils, curse my loss of space and my excess of clutter; but frustrations are part of the process of trying to paint and I wouldn't want to walk forever on smooth ground. No need to worry there either.
I love drawing and painting. I can never be bored. There are so many subjects, so many ways and means, so many options. And I haven't yet painted the cows red or the horses blue. I still have so many things to do and to explore. I wish life wasn't so short. I am not yet a hundred and the first half was scientist.”
The exhibition will be open Tue-Fri 12-6pm, Sat 1-5pm & Sun 12-4pm.
